Christmas often is a stressful time. The seemingly simple task of buying Christmas gifts often is complicated by volumes of traffic and holiday crowds. Expenses for these presents can be high. Insert extra time for shopping, and already busy schedules become more and more hectic. All that stress, though, can be relieved when they receive funny Christmas cards in the mail.
Hopefully, one of those cards will be a Christmas card that YOU sent!
Keep in mind that your sense of humor might differ drastically from the individual you wish to send a card to. You definitely want to keep this in mind when choosing whether or not to send them a funny card. Only begin the selection of humorous Christmas cards if you know the intended recipient well enough to know what strikes their funny bone or if they’ll forgive you if you choose wrong.
Even if the topic is limited to Christmas cards, there are many to choose from. Subject matter of such generally focus on:
- Kids
- Animals
- Famous people
With Santa themes, you’ll often find things like Santa getting caught while being naughty. Scenes where Santa Claus is paying the price for going too fast are not uncommon. Some cards picture the visitor from the North trying to maintain ownership of some present or presents he really likes. Another popular card includes Ms. Claus chastising Santa about his weight problem.
Kid humor is always great. Letters written by children to Santa can produce a lot of laughable material. Santa, drinking a glass of milk, could have a shocked look on his face as he reads a note that says, “Dear Santa, If you put a bike under the Christmas tree I’ll give you the anecdote for the poison I put in the milk. The best of all possible children, Timmy.”
Disguising a favorite animal as Santa Claus, a present, or a reindeer is another approach you might take.
If the card is being sent to an individual with a sense of humor and a strong liking for a public figure such as Barbara Streisand or Kobe Bryant, a characterized representation of that public person with a gentle jab of humor might be appropriate.
Whether you choose to create your own card or buy funny Christmas cards from the store, such a card can brighten someone’s stressful holiday season.
