Gag 50th Birthday Gifts to Make Your 50th Birthday Party Fun by Lisa Klima
Turning 50 doesn’t sound fun to everyone, but these gifts will make your special 50 year old get a laugh and appreciate the occasion more! They’re good for the person who is looking forward to the wisdom that comes with age, or is dreading the sound of “I’m 50 years old.” Hey, 50 is more like 40 these days, you know!
1) A quick trick to turn any gift into a gag is to label the gift (whether homemade or store bought) with a label you’ve typed up in small font on your computer! (It’s easy to find labels at an office supply place, or bring in to be printed). Then as the person squints to read it (oh dear, needing to update those bifocals already?) produce a magnifying glass wrapped up with a ribbon. This will not just come in handy for this amusing gift, but as a useful tool in the years to come!
2) Is your 50 year old a T-shirt person? Even if they’re usually not, they’ll love a 50th birthday shirt that bears a humorous 50th birthday slogan. Or maybe an over-the-hill shirt that lists all those things we know are happening (or going to happen!) but will do so in a way that will make anyone who reads it laugh!
3) Maybe you’d like to give a funny 50th birthday poem that commemorates the occasion in a humorous way. But you’re not much of a poetry writer yourself? Find a store that has great gag poems that you can personalize with a few lines and add the person’s name right into the body of the poem! Framed and displayed on a wall or table, it will give them a chortle whenever it catches their eye!
4) If you want a bit more unconventional 50th birthday gift to give that wonderful birthday guy or gal, how about some golf balls that not only say Happy Birthday, but how fabulous it is to be 50! Or pick a vanity license plate that proclaims how great life is after 50!
5) You could also pull together a small “cosmetics aging assistance” gift basket. Transparent surgical tape is an easy find. Packaged & labeled with directions, this becomes “instant facelift” when applied at the hairline! How about an ace bandage with directions to wrap around the jaw, over the head to help keep that jaw line taut! (It also helps with snoring by keeping the person’s mouth closed at night!!) You can get some large plastic tweezers and label them for those ear hairs that are sure to crop up. You’ll be able to easily buy some coarse sand paper at your local hardware store. When properly labeled, it becomes instant wrinkle remover! A jar of hair styling gel relabeled converts to hair replenishing tonic. Suntan lotion can be labeled “specifically created for that approaching bald spot”
